With the New Year upon us and the beginning of the
2015 Legislative Calendar beginning (Jan 7),
HempCT is proud to continue reform of many issues under the continued guidance of
Civic Trust Public Lobbying Company.
HempCT is planning 3 major events in 2015.
We need your support PERSONALLY and MONETARILY but we will get into that later.
March 4 = LOBBY DAY. HempCT will be hosting a lobby day at the Legislative Office Building from 9 am – 5 pm. This will be a day where anyone and everyone are invited to come out and meet your reps. A chance to discuss the issues where your passions reside. As well as to determining how the reps voting into legislative office by your area see progress. FIND YOUR REP.
A campaign is underway to reach out for support for as many legislators as possible BEFORE the bill is calendared. If you would like to add a testimonial or participate in the campaign,
PLEASE contact Cindy@HempCT.info.
ISSUES at hand:
PEDIATRIC USE of MEDICINAL MARIJUANA— This is most rewarding for HempCT. HB 5892 is introduced. HempCT has reached out to legislators and thus far, have positive support and influence. This bill now sits in the Joint Committee on Public Health
AMENDMENT to the FORM of MEDICINE DELIVERED TO DISPENSARIES—
An appeal to the DCP for revision to remove the HOMOGENIZATION requirement has been drafted and awaiting submission.
LEGALIZATION of INDUSTRIAL HEMP— HB 5780 - ( OUT OF COMMITTEE- General Law Committee) Public Hearing date awaits!!
DIRECT INITIATIVE -- HJ - 15
To allow CT residents the use of Direct Initiative. This bill now sits in Government Administrations and Election committee
RACIAL JUSTICE—
Many actions/reactions throughout the United States are a WAKE UP call that so many still are “deemed” as criminals and attacked by the color of their skin. In far too many cases, they result in death.
AID IN DYING – Proposed Bill SB 668
We are in full support of House Bill already in place and are offering help wherever needed. This bill now sits in Judiciary Committee
CHILDREN MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATION—PA – 13-178
For far too long, children have been misdiagnosed or undiagnosed. Perhaps with early detection—Connecticut will have fewer adults go without proper medication and/or therapy. We are in full support of Public Act already in place and are offering help wherever needed.
This bill needs to be voted on… Its been in the wings since 2013.
STALKING/DOMESTIC VIOLENCE via INTERNET--
State Senator, Mae Flexer made improvements to violence via the internet – we hope to stride towards greater improvements
OPIATE OVERDOSE AWARENESS -
We are offering support in any way on this VERY IMPORTANT health issue. Hoping to provide a community outreach with MyBottomLine.info
May 2 = 3rd Annual Marijuana Awareness Event - (Frank Fulgieri Day)
On Saturday, May 2nd Connecticut continues on with the Participation in the GLOBAL MARIJUANA MARCH Hundreds will gather on the back lawn of the capital to bring continued awareness to the benefits of marijuana. This year, with the support of Susan Meehan (Lakeville, CT) and her daughter, Cyndimae Meehan, HempCT with the help from Marijuana Policy Project and Drug Policy Alliance and StepFour.com, CT will have a PEDIATRIC MEDICINAL MARIJUANA use bill introduced.
