WHY HempCT?

In 2010, five CT citizens from across the state gathered  at a Community Center exchanging goals and ideas on what can be done to change the way Connecticut viewed marijuana issues. Since then, our education of issues dear to many has broadened.  HempCT History was made.

Thru a generous grant from Drug Policy Alliance, HempCT hosted an NO MORE DRUG WAR event on June 18, 2011. In memory of the the 40 years of the WAR ON DRUGS, HempCT brought together CT groups including, ADWF, SSDP, NormL, Leap, My Brothers Keeper, Women of Voices of Color to exchange views on the civil injustices infringed upon.

Since then, HempCT lobbied for The Good Samaritian, Decriminalization and for Medical Marijuana laws alongside key organizations and advocates.

Miss Lindsey Beck, who designed and crafted the HempCT square for the Moms4Marijuana Cannabis quilt, gave a powerful testimony at the Public Hearing.

In 2013; HempCT organized the first Event in conjunction with the

GLOBAL MARIJUANA MARCH.

With the efforts of so many activists, we funded our event thru

advertising in our event program, Vending

and our wonderful donors to our SWAG BAG Grab Bag.

In 2014, we came back -

so many NEW faces working diligently TOGETHER for a common goal.
